THE THREE-DAY CATWALK EVENT, HELD BY ADLIB IBIZA RUNWAY 2017, REPRESENT THE MOST OUTSTANDING KICK OFF FOR THE HIGH SEASON ON THE THRILLING MEDITERRANEAN ISLAND.
THE 46TH ADLIB IBIZA RUNWAY PRESENTS WOMEN’S, MEN’S, JEWELRY AND ACCESSORIES COLLECTIONS BY 28 DESIGNERS, THROUGH AN INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED EVENT WHICH TAKES PLACE ANNUALLY SINCE 1971 AND IS SUPPORTED BY THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT.
Counterculture, art, creativity, bohemia, cosmopolitanism and freedom are the words and concepts Ibiza lives by. The worldwide known Mediterranean Island, whose fame transcends boundaries and breaks all conventions, owns a cutting-edge position in the electronic music scene, a past and a present that run parallel to the avant-garde and a thriving fashion industry which is branded as Adlib Ibiza.
Adlib Ibiza Runway has been going on since 1971 as an annual forum where clothing, jewelry and accessories designers showcase their collections. The Ibiza Fashion Week 2018 will take place from May 18th to 20th, presenting three days of fashion shows and including the Futur Adlib Award – resolved to foster and support local emerging design talents– as well as an agenda of simultaneous events ending with the Ibiza International Music Summit. In sum, an interdisciplinary high season opening that reveals Ibiza as a unique destination where fashion meets art and music.
Adlib, from Latin ‘ad libitum’ (“at will, freely”) encompasses the whole meaning of made in Ibiza fashion. The brand’s vision, a spontaneous product of the 60s disruptive and experimental spirit owed to young designers from all around the globe who fell in love with the island’s white houses, turquoise waters, orange to purple flaming sunsets, cultural exchange and contrasting landscapes, thus creating a new fashion style and silhouette inspired by the Ibiza’s traditional costumes and the awakening of women’s empowerment which marked the time.

As an industry, it is historically one of the main economic forces of the island, a structure that employs designers, embroiderers, pattern designers, dyers, artisans, metal smiths and dressmakers, involving over 30 ateliers and a production volume that exceeds 100.000 units per year.
In addition, and regarding the academic world, the brand also collaborates with Ibiza’s School of Arts, a formative public center with higher studies in Fashion Design, so as to establish different synergies with the island and its territories, not only on the economic front but also in its cultural and social areas.
No less than 46 years have passed since the opening, in the late 60s, of the first boutiques at La Marina district where these pioneering designers sold their original creations. Back then the first Fashion Week was held by socialite Smilja Mihailovic, the brand’s promoter and ambassador until her death in 1994.

ADLIB IBIZA RUNWAY 2017: DESIGNERS & SHOWS
Adlib Ibiza Runway 2017 keeps expanding its legacy with the celebration of this 46th edition. From 18th to 20th May, 28 designers will display their SS18 collections in the best imaginable setting: the Port founded by the Punics in 650 b.c. over the medieval city declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.
On the first day, the shows will be devoted to the emerging local talents within the framework of the Futur Adlib project. Backed by Ibiza’s Government, the initiative has the aim of discovering and promoting the new local values of fashion and thereby ensuring the professional future of textile industry and fashion design on the island.
During the second and third days, the runway will host women’s, men’s, jewelry and accessories collections within the following categories: “Adlib Essence”, “Adlib Avant-garde”, “Boho-Chic” and “Jewelry & Accessories”.
“Adlib Essence” is an ode to white and to Ibizan architecture, basic pillars of the Adlib style with white cotton and lace embroidery as its distinctive elements. The firms representing this airy and fancy Adlib vision are: Ibimoda, Tony Bonet, Dira Moda Ibiza, Rubén Perlotti, Piluca Bayarri, Luisa Tur Adlib, Vintage Ibiza, Rebeca Ramis and Mónika Maxim.
The brand’s most experimental angle will be shown in the “Adlib Avant-garde” collections created by Isabel Castellar, Ivanna Mestres, Tanit Jeans, Marisa Cela, Virginia Vald, Jannine Helbling, Evitaloquepuedas and Ibiza Stones. Within this group, there will be a display of various artworks by Fashion Design students of Ibiza’s School of Arts.
The hippie heart and spirit of the most “Boho-Chic” side of Ibiza takes shape through the collections by World Family Ibiza, Beatrice San Francisco, Linnea Ibiza, Nanou Couture, Ichiana Ibiza and Beatrice San Francisco Man.
Finally, the “Jewelry & Accessories” section will be hosted by Elisa Pomar, Giampaolo Giardina, K de Kose-Kose, Espardenyes Torres and Siempreprimavera. Precious metal jewels, cult shoes and handmade objects; exceptional pieces which gracefully combine tradition and modernity -that is, Ibiza at its finest.
Throughout 30 collections, Adlib Ibiza Runway will showcase what is to come in daytime, swimwear, night and bridal trends all under the singular brand label and distinctive style of the brand Adlib.
